Karlovac and European Union
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In 2004 the City of Karlovac applied to the European Union for development and reinvestment funds. Environmental preservation was one of the main goals. To protect and preserve Karlovac's four beautiful rivers for future generations was a desired outcome. As a result, in cooperation with EBRD (European Bank for Restructuring and Development) and with the assistance of consultants "Jacobs - Gibb, London", the City of Karlovac applied for project funding and was awarded more then 30 million Euros for the purpose of constructing a wastewater treatment plant.

We can proudly state that Karlovac is the smallest European city to successfully receive funds for such major project.
